Beginnings

From his earliest days in artistic endeavors—beginning at age 3 with a first place entry in a local merchant’s advertising contest—the fine arts have been a central influence in Mark’s work. His award-winning high school art, graphic design, and multimedia projects laid the foundation for his interest in digital media and marketing.

At Grand Canyon University, Mark received his B.A. in graphic design and graduated with honors.

In his early career, Mark launched out into web design and development, filling a crucial need among businesses and nonprofits in the emerging web of the early 2000s. His creative consulting work would eventually expand to include print design and direct mail, theater advertising, publications, logo design, and video projects.

Art Director

In early 2007 Mark joined the staff at Phoenix First as Art Director, where he redefined the branding and marketing of one of the largest churches in the US.

While simultaneously improving infrastructure in content management and ROI in marketing, his work at Phoenix First received critical acclaim both internally and nationally for its achievements and quality.

As Art Director at Phoenix First, he developed a tightly-integrated online marketing, publications, and social media strategy while setting a new standard for quality in the organization’s web, print and video productions.

Agency Life

Mark next joined the creative team at a digital marketing agency to develop its video services. As the Director of Media Production, he managed the video crew and oversaw productions including commercials, brand content, event filming, animation and motion graphics. Mark also developed the agency’s video production infrastructure and capabilities, creating a new revenue stream and growing the team to three full-time employees in less than two years.

Mark’s role expanded to Director of Marketing Production. In addition to the media production team, Mark managed a larger team of subject matter experts in digital marketing. Working closely with client stakeholders, the marketing team developed effective strategies and executed highly successful campaigns. These initiatives included creative efforts in content marketing, social media, PPC, and email marketing.

Creative Director

With award-winning experience in agency, in-house brands, and contract work, as well as expertise in creative productions and integrated digital marketing, Mark’s freelance work reflects the same excellence and focus on quality.

From high-impact motion graphics to live-action video production, UX design to web development, branding & identity to print collateral, content marketing to social media, and team development to project management–Mark brings a broad understanding and integrated perspective to the table.

Mark and his teams have produced a collection of award-winning video and animated productions, receiving more than two dozen Telly Awards, multiple W3 Awards including Best in Show, AMA Spectrum Awards People’s Choice, and top honors from many others. Mark has been specifically recognized for his film direction, use of motion graphics and animation, as well as art direction and graphic design.

Other Activities

Mark is a published writer, photographer, and illustrator.

He has served as adjunct professor at Grand Canyon University, has been a featured speaker at national conferences, and has conducted workshops on a variety of topics.

He is a professional member of the Silver Telly Council, AMA, and AIGA.
